Pirate Santa Rum Tropical Beach Christmas Card

Ahoy! Add some swashbucklin’ spirit to the holidays with this pirate parody of a classic carol

A pirate in a Santa hat stands on a sandy beach, his sailing ship anchored out at sea just behind him.

This swashbuckler is skilled at making spirits bright (and making them disappear down the hatch!). In one hand he holds a tropical coconut cocktail, and in the other, a bottle of rum.

The jolly juice put him in a boisterous mood, bringing to mind a favorite Christmas carol. He then began to bellow a slightly different buccaneer version of it…

Come they told me, da rum rum rum rum

Another drink for me, of rum rum rum rum….

Artist Notes

My inspiration…

My dad and I have exchanged what we call our “Pirate Tales” back and forth in writing for many years, each trying to outdo the other with outlandish adventures. There have been casino heists and cliff diving in Acapulco, Caribbean rum distillery raids, a lucrative luxury resort in Saint Lucia, and our family’s own private island in French Polynesia.

In a recent writing, he explained how he came to be dangling precariously from a palm tree: “I was harvesting coconuts, but as it happened, we traded positions - them on the ground and me left hanging in the tree.”

He is a colorful character with quite the imagination, clever wit, and sense of humor, and his cartoon likeness appears in several of my creations.
